Dr. Jones. Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away.

What does it say about the state of the entertainment business when "it doesn't totally suck" replaces "it's good"?

I saw National Treasure a couple of days ago. I enjoyed the movie but it was nothing special. Thats something a lot of movies seem to be plagued with lately "nothing special" or "good but forgettable". Maybe the problem is there are just too many movies, scripts are being watered down, sometimes it is even a case of taking something that would work great in small doses but they make too much of it and force it into being silly.

Heres what prompted me to think about this, I heard in a review somewhere they said National Treasure was the Raiders of the Lost Ark of this generation. However Raiders had a certain campy fun feel about it, it didn't take itself real seriously and even had fun with itself. There is just a certain quality and feeling about Raiders that makes it a fun action movie. National Treasure is good, but it totally fails to deliver the substance that a movie like Raiders gives you. Like I said enjoyed it but it wasn't anything special.

On the other hand it's nice to see a movie that surprises you. I had a chance to watch Mean Girls tonight. Normally it isn't the type of movie I would really sit down and pay attention while I watch but I felt the need to show some support for Tina Fey, I mean she is on almost all occasions hilarious. Honestly going into the movie I didn't really have high expectations so when the movie was enjoyable I was pleasantly surprised. It also was nice to see so many SNL players in a movie which was not painful to watch. By the way watching the movie I did pick up a lot of Tina Fey- like sayings in the dialog which is for the best.

Lets see what else... White Chicks, definitely not the best of the Wayans family, I'd suggest picking up In Living Color DVDs or I'm Gonna Git You Sucka' instead.

.. Now I must go search around Netflix and find something that looks interesting. It looks like Garden State comes out in Dec, that'll have to top my list next month then... Maybe I should try for some MST3k to watch on Thanksgiving morning.
