MMORPG Madness

So in January I'm taking a trip to visit an old friend, while I'm there I plan on building myself a new rig, one capable of playing (but not on the highest settings, money is an object sadly) Newer games.

The problem I'm having is, do I want to get back into a MMORPG? I used to play the original Everquest, but I got bored with it. One of my main problems was my main/favorite character was a warrior and in EQ it can be pretty impossible to do things solo and I'm not always in the mood for a group, or I don't always have time for a group sometimes you just want to get on there and quickly kick some butt before logging back off.

Well the friend I'm visiting is also a fan of the online games such as that, his brother is into EQ2 so I need to educate myself about the new games that will be available as off early January 2004. So far the list of what I need to look at looks like this...

Everquest 2
World of Warcraft
Matrix Online

I'm leery about EQ2 since the original bored me after a while. Star Wars might be ok, I was in the later beta stages of it but my computer back then was horrible so I didn't get much of a chance to play it (plus the worlds were pretty empty during my testing time). WoW I've heard some really nice things about, I'm just not sure since I haven't had much of a chance to read up on it but it is highly recommended (but so is Star Wars in some circles). Finally the other one I know very little about is the Matrix Online, I'm not even sure if it will be available while I am there and I'd prefer to get one we can play while I'm there.

Looks like some research is most definitely in order thats for sure.
