I should be honest and say that there are two on the list that are bold even though I have not yet seen them. I feel justified bolding them as I have the DVDs here ready to watch. No I will not admit which ones they are and YES I realize there are a few on that list that I really should have seen by now. Believe me I'm working on it. There are also a few on the list I really should watch again.

Pierce, you're killing me over here. But I would rather light a candle than blah, blah, blah. I'm seeing many titles from my top ten not in bold.

You can't go wrong starting with Citizen Kane, Mockingbird, Dr. Strangelove, Paths of Glory and A Clorkwork Orange.

Seriously, I'm not coming down on ya, but you never have seen Jaws? Not even on a crappy late night cable station while surfing for soft-core porn at two in the AM?

I know I know, I am reshuffling my rental queue right now. I had all of those movies in the queue except for Paths of Glory already, but once I looked it up I added it. The real problem is my constant shuffling, I need to pick an order and stick to it.

Yeah I know, even I can barely believe that I haven't seen Jaws. I have seen a bits and pieces over the years, and I've seen a lot of shows/specials discussing it but I never got around to actually watching it as a whole.

Besides at two in the morning I was always busy finding a replay of Evil Toons or Zapped I didn't have time to notice a shark flick...On the plus side my misspent youth means that now I have a ton of quality movies that I can watch with fresh eyes.

Wow! You beat me by 6. I have seen 40 of those "works of cinematic art". You win! Haha! I have seen Jaws and well it kept me out of the water for a long time. Even on the crappy cable shows at 2am, who is up at 2am, they edit it to bits. However, I made the mistake of having my first official viewing of it at the beach. Not a smart idea at all! ;)

The problem is that I found with this list is that I've read a lot of those movies but never sat down to see the movie. Clockwork Orange being one of them. It's hard for me to make the transition once I read the book to the movie. I don't know why. Maybe I'm afraid they'll spoil the book somehow. *shrugs*

Misspent youth? Watching cult classics of the 80s. Ha! That is hardly misspent time at all..for if that's the case, I'm just as guilty as you are. :)

Pierce--Any viewing and subsuquent reviews of them "non-bold" movies yet?

Sadly so far the rentals are working against me. The local stores have a shockingly low amount of classics, I did manage to get "To Kill a Mockingbird" which is in the plans for tonights viewing.

The rest I am having to get through the online rentals which take forever to reach my tiny town. I can't even get A Clockwork Orange from there. I really miss my Netflix. I did manage to watch The Innocents and The Bad Seed recently though.

About the reviews though. Well Sadly I have recently read that I in fact may not be qualified to write them...Ok so actually the article basically just made me laugh.

I suppose my argument would be that classics don't sell as well as "modern" movies according to the stores. :P Idiots! However, I honestly don't know where one would get some of those movies. I'm sure there is a dark house on a hill somewhere with a dungeon full of old movies...so dusty that when you blow on them..it sends you into a fit of sneezes. Must find that house....I might have to move in that dungeon...

I guarantee you that if I were back in Portland one of the Blockbuster or Hollywood Video stores within walking distance of any of the houses I've lived at there would have every single movie available on my list.

Unfortunately I live in a place where it is more important to have twenty copies of "The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning" instead of one "Citizen Kane". Even having never seen either of those I can tell you right now that they made the wrong choice.

Why did you have to leave PDX? Oh, I know...witness relocation, right. What town are you in now? Sounds a little vapid. I thought Spokane was kind of boring, I can't imagine a place that doesn't have a Blockbuster nearby.

Why did I have to leave? Good question, I ask myself that pretty much daily at this point. The only answer I have is bad judgment. It really is one of those "don't know what you have till it is gone" kind of things. I realize now that I took PDX for granted.

I now live in a little place called Nashville Michigan. If I were in witness relocation this is exactly where I would choose to be because nobody is finding this place. There is a blockbuster about 15 or 20 miles away but like I said they have a pretty unspectacular selection.

I've been in and around Spokane more than a few times. I've even been to the Spokane Arena. Not a bad place at all. My brother might say the opposite though, his wife is from there.

LOL Same as with my town. We have two video stores..that are not chains. Enough said....:P The "big" city which is a college town is fed by it's students..so all the movies cater to them. :P Ahh yes..Nashville MI, well technically anyone could find anyone with the invention of Google Earth. Scary prospect that is....and a how small is your town tidbit?? We can count the number of stoplights on one hand here ;) I miss the West coast too....I WILL go back and stay!

Not that I'm one to pay attention to detail...but I believe you've watched a few off that list since then. ;)

I believe I've watched four or five off the list at this point. But I have a couple of others sitting on my desk awaiting viewing as well. Slowly but surely I'm working my way up.

I've also added a few from the AFI list that I need to watch as well. I'm thinking I may do an update on the list soon.
