Ok, so I probably shouldn't talk about this since I'm not supposed to have seen this yet. But I recently watched the series finale (in UK terms that is like a US season finale) of Doctor Who. I won't say anything about it in case anybody happens by that watches it in American time (aka months and months late) but I will say that John Simm is awesome!
But my real point in this post is because well frankly thanks to the finale I have a song stuck completely in my head. It is called "I can't decide" by Scissor Sisters.
Here is a video of the entire song (featuring video from a UK show called "Blackpool" coincidental also featuring David Tennant)
....now I wish I had a way to see "Blackpool"
and just in case you want to have a taste of how great John Simm is and you want to see the song in the show here is a clip. Beware though, watching the video may inadvertently give away some spoilers.
And I am going to try and go knock the song out of my head by watching "Raging Bull"

That's funny, I knew a chick who was a "Gresham Gopher" that loved that particular SS song...her name is withheld to protect the innocent.
And cheer up...tomorrow Black Snake Moan rocks your skull...
Ah the Gresham Gophers...natural enemy to the Centennial Eagles. Well at least that would be the case if I'd of had school spirit.
Musically I've always been pretty much stunted. But I am almost always a fan of songs that contrast such disturbing lyrics with such an upbeat tempo.
Oh man I can't wait for Black Snake. Normally I get worried about being this excited for a movie, but this one seems like about as sure a bet as possible.
You and your cohorts were probably too busy skipping and hangin' at Coffee's On:)
Love that BSM clip of Sam Jackson...must pickup the soundtrack...
I've been slammed with work lately trying to finish Cornell stuff for the site, still trying to slide Blade Runner into my schedule...
Wow, Coffee's On...I haven't heard that name for quite a while. I didn't spend a ton of time there, but it was a memorable place...I mean it was no Hi Fi Grotto, but what is? Actually I think the Grotto may have closed down, I'm not sure. It'd be a shame if it did, think of all the HS smokers that would have to relocate!
I am actually about 4 seconds away from pressing play on BSM, so I'll be out of reach for the duration for sure. Judging by that video I may need to get the soundtrack as well. Sam seems to be able to pull of just about anything he tries these days.
My working plan at the moment is to watch Black Snake, then tomorrow or the next day put in 2001 again and try to punch out something on the keyboard. Then after that it'll be Blade Runner time.
Hey Pierce, I got the skinny on your beloved Hi Fi Grotto:

Sounds like this joint was on "gopher turf"...any mindless and bloody rumbles back in the day? Or was everyone too distracted with their Pall Malls to give a rat's? I'm surprised the movie "Heathers" hasn't come up...the gal from Gresham I knew loved that movie, it has such a dark and urban vibe. Musically stunted? Here's my e-mail, drop me a line and I'll send you some good links for tunes.

I actually never spent much time at the Grotto, all of my HS time was spent at Centennial. My sister is the one that went to Gresham high school, as well as one of my friends. I was kind of screwed out of a cool high school hangout spot. When I started going to Centennial it was the first year of their "no leaving the campus during school hours" rule..so we were stuck, then afterwards I always booked it straight home.
I'm totally going to forward that link onto my sister, awesome find, thanks!
